2002 Mixed Regionals

The schedule is now available.

The Community for Pittsburgh Ultimate (CPU) is very excited to announce to everybody that we will be hosting Mid-Atlantic Mixed Division Regionals here at the Norwin Soccer Club in Pittsburgh, PA on Saturday and Sunday, October 5 & 6. Pittsburgh has not hosted a UPA series qualifier since before anybody can remember, and we will be very eager to welcome coed players from all over our region to decide who will represent us in Sarasota.

The tourney will be held at the same site as the July 4 weekend Mars Ultimate Tournament. Unfortunately, we will not be able to offer camping at this tourney as we will not have the entire complex. We will also have to strictly enforce a policy of no alcohol and no dogs at the fields. These are both rules of the Norwin Soccer Club, upon whom we depend for our summer league fields. The no alcohol rule will apply all weekend as we are not allowed to drink while soccer is taking place on the complex. Anyone breaking this rule will be asked to leave the tourney. Sorry to be such a church lady, but we need our fields.

Tournament format will be double-elimination, but all teams are guaranteed four Saturday games--we will play out all our consolation rounds. Fruit, water and bagels will be provided and the possibility of some sort of concessions run by the soccer club exists. Our tournament website is under construction, but it will be based at www.pittsburgh-ultimate.org where a link will be provided (this will be up by Tuesday, 9/17). Directions to the fields, hotel information, and eventually team bios, field maps, schedules and brackets will be available there. Tourney fee has yet to be set officially but it will probably be in the $70-$80 range.

So, MA Coed teams--start getting ready to head to the 'burgh. Play on our lush fields; experience Yinzer hospitality and, best of all, see the roads we've been driving for years to come play in your towns!

See you here!
