2012 Winter League

The unfortunate truth regarding Winter League taking place late in the evening during the winter is that the weather will not always be great. Because the league takes place indoors, the quality of the fields will not be an issue, however the facility itself (PISA) may close should conditions be severe.

Beyond the facility closing, which from past years seems highly unlikely unless we get a pretty bad storm, the ruling as to whether or not scheduled games will still happen will depend on driving conditions.

With this reasoning in mind, the official policy is as follows:

1. Should the PISA facility close due to bad weather, games will be canceled. The commissioner will notify all captains of teams scheduled to play as soon as she is informed that the facility is closed on the pittsburgh-ultimate.org forum and via Twitter.
2. Should the facility remain open during periods of questionable weather, it will be up to the team captains scheduled to play one another to determine whether or not the game will still be played.

• if the teams mutually agree to play the game, the game will take place as scheduled
• if both teams feel that the weather creates dangerous driving conditions and they do not feel the games should take place, the game will be canceled. Should the game not be able to be rescheduled, both teams will be charged with a forfeit, however they will not be subject to financial forfeit penalties
• if the teams are unable to reach a mutual decision, the game will be canceled. The team that is not willing to travel will be charged with a forfeit however will not be subject to the financial forfeit penalties
• the commissioner has the right to determine whether or not road conditions are dangerous and may cancel games as appropriate should the facility still remain open
• the commissioner has the right to determine at what point roads are considered dangerous enough to warrant not enforcing financial penalties should forfeits occur
