2012 Winter League

The structure of the league will again consist of mostly clique teams as has been the league structure in the past. Clique teams must include a minimum number of 5 men and 5 women on the roster.

There will also be an individual sign up option. Players who sign up individually will be placed on a team consisting of other individual sign up players. Players may "baggage" with up to 2 other players. Players who sign up as individuals will receive league t-shirts at no additional cost. Individual team spots will be allocated on a first come first served basis, space permitting. 
****Note: At this point, male individual registration is full.****  From this point forward, despite being able to complete the registration process, all male players who sign up now will be "waitlisted" and will only be able to participate in the league space permitting.

New this year: All players must register independently.  Players who are planning to play on clique teams will have the option of indicating the team they will be playing for during registration.

Dates/Times

Games will start January 13 and will take place Friday nights starting at 11:30pm and Saturday nights starting at 9:45pm. Game dates will include January 13,14, 20, 21, 27, 28, February 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25 and March 2, 3, 9.  Each team will have games on Friday OR Saturday night.  Teams will not have games every weekend of the regular season.

If you are submitting a bid for a clique team, please include in your bid any dates that you expect to be conflicts for the majority of your team. I will attempt to honor as many schedule conflicts as possible, but cannot guarantee that all requests will be met.  Please make every effort to structure your team to avoid schedule conflicts.

Location

Games will be held at the Pittsburgh Indoor Sports Arena located at 22 Rich Hill Road, Cheswick, PA 15024.  
 

Cost

$50/player

Players who register for the individual sign up team will receive a team t-shirt at no extra cost!

Additional Instructions For Captains Submitting Clique Team Bids

FYI: We are no longer accepting clique team bids.

Clique teams will need to submit a bid with the following information to the commissioner via email (winter@pittburgh-ultimate.org) by December 15:

- Name, address, phone number and email address of team captain/team contact

- Team name

- Full name (first and last) of every player on the roster to include a MINIMUM of 5 men and 5 women

- Schedule conflicts
 

Forfeits

Should forfeits occur, the team that forfeits will be charged the amount of $50 per game (note, this is less than the cost of field time per game). Should a forfeit be expected, the team captain should inform me at least 4 hours before scheduled game time in order to attempt to notify the remaining teams who will be considered on standby for use of the field. If a team does not notify me, the commissioner, at least 4 hours before scheduled game time that a game is to be missed, that team will be charged an additional $30 per game (total $80, the approximate cost per field per game). Should a team generate forfeits on more than one scheduled game day, that team will automatically be ineligible for finals in additional to the accrual of fines for each game forfeited.

That being said, occasionally missed games are unavoidable due to the inclement weather, etc. These situations will be handled on a case by case basis at the commissioner's discretion.
