Welcome to Pittsburgh Fall League 2011

Fall League is Pittsburgh's yearly coed hat league. Not only do you get to play ultimate in the best season of the year and you get SWAG--previous years' SWAG includes jerseys, hoodies, and tear-away pants. Registration can be found by clicking the tab above.

Information

Official weather policy:

Games should be played so long as there is no standing water or lightning. We do not want to damage the fields or get inured.

If there is lightning, games must break for at least 20 min after the last seen strike before resuming the game. Players need to move to the pavilion or their vehicles. Games should be rescheduled if lightning persists for 15min (ie you would have a 35+min stoppage of play).

Captains must contact commissioner as soon as possible to inform of any canceled or partially played games. Rescheduled games will either be on a Tuesday night or on the weekend.

*If a score has one team winning and their score is at least 10, the game will not be rescheduled.*

All spots for Fall League 2011 have been claimed. Teams will be posted within the next 24 hours. Check back soon.

If you were waitlisted and accepted make sure you pay. If you were waitlisted and did not get accepted try to sign up for the Salary draft league.

All players must fill out and submit an authorization waiver in order to play. The form can be found here or by going to http://www.usaultimate.org/resources/sanctioning/registration.aspx#regform and click on the One-Time Event and Waiver Form link. Make sure to turn in the signed waiver to Mac Kravitz or your captain. You do not need to pay the fee.

Current USA ultimate players do not need to do this.

There will be NO PARTY this year. Instead there will be food and drinks at finals. This will allow the league cost to decrease to $40.

We will take at most 88 men and 48 women, for a total of 8 teams, so SIGN UP EARLY. The gender ratio should be 5m/2f or 4m/3f offense decides. Every team will play 11 games including playoffs.

Once again this year, we are limiting the league to players age 18 and older. If you are under this age and want to play you may contact the commissioner to submit a request.

We are ordering short sleeve jerseys (each team will get a unique color) this year from 5 Ultimate.

The cost for the league is $40. We will start Thursday, September, 1. There will be two games per night at 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. every Monday and Thursday at Blawnox Community Park.  The full schedule can be found by clicking HERE or the schedule link above.

You can register by clicking the tab above. Registration closes Aug 27, unless all positions fill up beforehand. Please Register early to guarantee a place in the league.

League Rules

  • You may not bring dogs on the fields. This is a field rule and is enforced by the local police. Please respect this rule to keep our relationship with the Blawnox community good.
  • Fall League uses the UPA 11th Edition rules.
  • Gender ratio is 5m:2f / 4m:3f offense decides.
  • Games will be played to 15 or follow the cap rules listed below.
  • Games last 2 hrs. If you start later than your scheduled start time (extenuating circumstances excluded), your game will not be played for 2 hrs.
  • No game will be played for more than 19 points, (ie 19-18 is a winning score)
  • After 100 minutes a soft cap will be put into effect (game is played to the high score +2, you do not need to win by 2)
  • After 115 minutes, the time cap goes on (play the last point whichever team holds the lead wins; if the scores are tied, play one more point.)
  • There is one time out per half plus a floater.
  • Any registered player can float in fall league. If a team needs a player of a certain gender to play and without that player would have to play short on the field a floater of that gender cannot be refused by the opposing team's captain (assuming no options exist).
  • If your team is made up of primarily floaters (more than 50%) your game is forfeit, but you should still play and have fun.
  • Forfeits should be recorded as a 1-0 win.
