Muff at Philly Invite

Pool Play:
Germ Circus: W: 13-7
Fingerbang: W: 13-4
Lake Effect: W: 13-6
Renegade: W: 13-5
Bangarang: W: 13-6

Bracket Play:
NJ MIxed: W: 15-11
AMP: L: 8-15 (Game for 9th place)

Good tourney for us, lost some steam at the end against AMP, were up 6-4 but injuries and exhaustion caught up with us. Although we could not get a shot to play for 1st due to initial seeding, we proved it with a good game against perenial nationals contenders, AMP and handling Renegade (5th in regions last year as BRDM) and Germ Circus (who we lost to at sectionals but beat at regions last year).

What was the format that winning out put you in the 9th place game? Some sort of power pools?

Yes, two pools at the top (A and B) with 6 teams each (12 total) and pools C and D at the bottom with 12 teams.

Top 4 teams from bottom two pools and bottom 4 teams from top two pools play for 9th. We were seeded 15th to start.

Sounds like a sucky format! Too bad they didn't let the top 4 from the lower pools play into quarters or something.

Maybe, but we proved it for next year and maybe chesapeake later on. Also, those teams in the top 8 are all likely nationals teams.

Sounds similar to Chesapeake last year for Forge. We went 8-0, but never got a crack at the elite bracket. It's frustrating, but well done MnM for making the most of it.

Hot Metal at Motown Throwdown, Day 2

Game 5: 15-2? W Lily [Canada]
Game 6: 15-5? W Dish [Chicago]
Game 7: 15-12 W PPF [Ontario, Canada]

Hot Metal wins her second tournament of the season with an overall season record of 14-0. We're really learning each other and becoming more disciplined and will be working hard to compete against some of the nation's best teams at Chesapeake at the end of August.

Based entirely on score reporter, Moxie is representing Pittsburgh well in Minnesota. They gave top-seeded Seattle a close game, losing 10-7, and lost a close one to the Cincinnati girls, 9-7. Can't quite figure what's up in round 3. Looks like they are up 8-6 against the Triangle girls. Let's hope that holds up and they take their first win of the day.
